Academia Cesar Chavez (ACC), serving the St. Paul, Minnesota community since 2001, provides a high-quality dual-language education that prepares culturally aware bilingual and biliterate learners by advocating Latino cultural values in an environment of familia and community. The newly appointed Executive Director initiated an overview of the organization's current administrative roles to ensure that ACC was positioned and structured to meet the school’s mission, as well as the Board of Directors’ and authorizer’s expectations in the areas of academics, organizational effectiveness, and financial health.
ACC took The Ed.ucateD Approach by engaging in our organizational effectiveness analysis process. The process involved understanding the organization's current state, combined with analysis and research, to provide recommendations aimed at improving student outcomes, organizational efficiency, and financial viability, in line with the school’s mission.
We developed a three phase process which included review and analysis, data collection and analysis, and research. In addition to reviewing and analyzing the job descriptions for each administrative role, we reviewed the salaries for the administrative team and the organization’s financials, including but not limited to the annual audit, to understand the financial impacts, if any, of the current administrative structure. During the data collection and analysis phase, we interviewed the administrative team to gain insight on their written job description in comparison with their daily responsibilities, and the Minnesota Charter School authorizer to gain perspective of the organization's ability to operate efficiently, center student outcomes and maximize return on investment.
The feedback gathered from all phases was analyzed and paired alongside the research of best practices within similar schools in Minnesota to serve as the foundation for our recommendations.
